Toft Newton On The Buzzers
Posted by Craig Barr on

Finally, the lock down has been lifted, and we can all go fishing again. I have never been so keen to go fishing in a long while. Not only are we all in partial lock down, we have also experienced the driest, and possibly warmest May for a long time - just what we wanted on our return to fishing ! With all the Anglian Water's not open at the time,(they are now) I decided to pay a visit to Toft Newton Trout Fishery, near Lincoln. When a youngster, this was the first fishery to open, so I visited here...
Grafham Water Grown On Rainbow's - Plentiful !

Grafham Water is producing some stunning over wintered fish at the moment. Encouraged by recent posts on FB, I decided to pay it a visit. A south west wind saw us being blown nicely onto the North Shore. We set our drift 100 yds off the Hedge End point. As we neared the shore we started hitting fish. My colleague was using a Di-8 line and two boobies, whilst I used a Di-7, Candy Fab on the dropper, & a Black Cormorant booby on the point, on a 15' leader.(Wychwood Ghost Mode 9lb tippet) ( Other black boobies also caught)...
Graiglwyd Springs Trout Master Final - On The Double !!
Posted by Claudiu Nicorici on

This weekend saw me in Scotland for the Glasgow Angling Open weekend, followed by a trip to North Wales on Saturday evening for the Trout Master fish off final at Graiglwyd Springs trout fishery on the Sunday. Graiglwyd is a hidded gem fishery in North Wales, near Penmaenmawr. Stocked with ample great fighting fish, and numerous doubles too !! Conditions were pretty good, in comparison to the very recent weather in the area. An overcast start and a 10mph wind, though this did increase throughout the morning. Having very little to go one for my choice of lines, I based...
Time To Go Deep At Toft Newton.

Toft Newton Reservoir, Lincs, has recently been under new management. One thing that has been apparent very much across social media, is the number of fish that has been going in, reflected by very healthy rod averages of late. With this in mind, Jim Doyle and I decided to go fishing there, as he came down South from Scotland for a weekend. There just so happened to be an organised bank match, so this was the perfect tonic to dust myself down and get out there fishing. I have only fished Toft Newton once in the last 5 years, so...
Fishing Graiglwyd Springs, North Wales
Posted by Craig Barr on

Two days at Graiglwyd Springs in North Wales, yielded plenty of action for my son and I, Oscar. Day 1 was very windy, with gusts of up to 50mph, and with the surrounding mountains, it tended to swirl around a bit too ! Graiglywd is a very deep water, and it drops off in an instant from the very edge of the bank - perfect for the hang, and ideal for the the beginner, as the fish do often come very tight in, if not disturbed too much, so long casts are not always necessary. I often do well with...
