3 Must Fish Boat Spots On Rutland Now !

Everyone wants to catch that 'special' fish when setting out for a days fishing. I will be revealing right now, 3 spots worth a visit when out on a boat at Rutland this next few weeks. Yesterday I had the pleasure of sharing my second day out with Martin. Our mission was to catch a back end 'Rutland biggie'.  If you are planning to go out on Rutland over this next month, don't expect to fill the boat, as it just isn't like that, 4-5 fish would be a good catch. However, the quality of fish, would probably far out...

Lad Verses Dad - Who Won The Bragging Rights??

It is not that often I get to go out fishing with my dad, however we we determined to have a great day on Rutland together. Rutland is still only showing glimpses of its normal potential for this time of year, however saying that, if you know where to look, there are some superb fish to be caught ! My first day out recently was with Peter Scholes, based in Lancashire. Peter has never really got to grips with Rutland on previous visits, and wanted to see how I approach this huge expanse of water. The warm weather bought out the midges, and this just had to get the fish on the move, and it did. Peter and I headed to the Old Hall Bay, where, as predicted, we were met with rising...

Did Pitsford Or Rutland Come Out On Top This Week?

Did Pitsford Or Rutland Come Out On Top This Week?

The long awaited sunshine and heat has finally arrived, though not an anglers favourite! However it hasn't yet dampened the fishing at Anglian Waters. I spent the day on Tuesday with local angler Kevin, who is a regular to Pitsford Reservoir. The sun was blazing, and the temperatures sored to dizzy heights, yet did the fish still want to play? - yes they did ! We started fishing in what is known as the Narrows. A light Easterly wind, combined with early warmth, allowed for a steady hatch of buzzers. This dictated our set up, as we both went for...
